Gateway Eagles at the St. Louis Science Center 2013On the fourth Saturday of each month in 2013, GEM members manned the flight simulators in the Experience Flight room at the St. Louis Science Center.

Gateway Eagles 2013 Youth Aviation DayThe 19th annual Gateway Eagles youth aviation day was held on Saturday, September 14th at the St. Louis Downtown Airport in Cahokia, Illinois. Kids flown included students from the Gateway STEM High School and the Missouri Air Force ROTC 851st group. Thanks very much to the Greater St. Louis Air & Space Museum facility for their kind hospitality, the St. Louis Downtown Airport for their tremendous help, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale for their aircraft and great pilots, the St. Louis Science Center for their enthusiastic volunteers, the pilots from local Experimental Aircraft Association chapters who donated their time and aircraft, the St. Louis Chapter of CHUMS Incorporated for their long time support and contributions to the Gateway Eagles and Ideal Aviation for their assistance.

Gateway Eagles annual picnic 2013The Gateway Eagles annual picnic was held this year at the Harold J. Evangelista Park in scenic Black Jack, Missouri. Great food, great friends and Mexican dominos made it a fun time had by all.

Black Pilots of America Operation Skyhook 2013 On each Memorial Day weekend, BPA Operation Skyhook is held at Grider Field in Pine Bluff , Arkansas. The three day event includes various competition events with aircraft, giving local kids a chance to flying and lots of comaraderie.

Youth aviation classes at the Barbara C. Jordan school in University City, Missouri, April, 2013. Armentha Russell and GEM President Harold Moss headed up 6 sessions of aviation knowledge introduction to a group of 6-10 year olds at the Barbara C. Jordan school. The classes included the science of flight, aircraft propulsion and flight communication. The last day of class first featured a special lunch then all went outside to Fogerty Park for an air-powered rocket demonstration and other fun activities.
